This Edo Governor is Real

Today, I wish to salute Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State. In an age where exaggerated claims and questionable achievements dominate political narratives, Senator Okpebholo stands out for his refreshing authenticity.

Unlike many who inflate their academic credentials, Okpebholo’s educational background may not be stellar, but it is genuine. He openly admitted his struggles with figures—a rare moment of honesty in a political climate where pretense is the norm. Unlike others, he did not conjure up degrees from dubious institutions like “Penn Foster College” or fabricate tales of earning a university degree in just 21 days.

He’s not one to flaunt impossible promises, such as bringing “dollars,” “pounds,” or “euros” in abundance to Edo State. Nor has he indulged in the kind of hyperbole that involves buying a private jet for any Oba or claiming that his elder brother powers the entire nation. His sister is not a phantom “Governess” of Edo State, and he has not relocated the Benin Airport to his village.

Senator Okpebholo’s approach is simple yet profound: he believes that success in life does not hinge solely on academic brilliance. He understands that leadership is about humility, authenticity, and the courage to admit limitations while seeking solutions.

Let Edo State give Mr. Monday Okpebholo a chance. With his honesty and grounded perspective, he might just be the leader the state needs.
