Super Eagles Set for World Cup Qualifiers as Coach Eric Chelle Unveils Squad – Samuel Itedjere

The Super Eagles are gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with Coach Eric Chelle unveiling a preliminary squad packed with fresh talent and experienced names. Nigeria will take on Zimbabwe on March 25 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, just four days after facing Rwanda in a crucial Group C encounter.

A major highlight of Chelle’s squad is the inclusion of Tolu Arokodare, the in-form Genk striker, who is set to make his Super Eagles debut. Arokodare has been on fire in the Belgian Jupiler League, netting 16 goals and 5 assists in 28 matches, with a total of 18 goals across all competitions this season. His selection bolsters Nigeria’s attacking options as the team looks to reignite its World Cup qualification campaign.

Also earning first-time call-ups are Igoh Ogbu and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi in defense, Anthony Dennis, Chrisantus Uche, and Papa Daniel Mustapha in midfield, along with Jerome Akor Adams in attack. The selection signals Chelle’s intent to blend youth with experience, injecting fresh energy into the squad.

Several familiar faces return to the fold, including goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, defender Jordan Torunarigha, midfielder Joseph Ayodele-Aribo, and forwards Cyriel Dessers and Nathan Tella. With Nigeria currently sitting fifth in Group C, the pressure is on to secure vital points, and the balance of emerging talent and seasoned professionals could be key to turning the team’s fortunes around.

As the Super Eagles step up preparations, anticipation is building among fans eager to see how the new-look squad performs. With a mix of hunger, experience, and attacking firepower, Nigeria’s road to the 2026 World Cup is about to intensify.
