Why can’t Adeleke contest under PDP, Why are APC people troubled by his defection

In recent weeks, Osun State has become the headquarters of rumours and claims, both correct and incorrect. The power brokers are laughing, frowning, frustrated, and disappointed over Governor Ademola Adeleke’s planned defection from PDP to APC.

First, I am not to insult or oppose anybody’s interests. After all, life is about interests, and the headquarters of ‘interest’ is politics. But the valid question I want to first ask is, WHY CANNOT ADELEKE CONTEST UNDER PDP? We agree that Adeleke is popular and will win second term but why does he want to abandon his native home for a new home?

If I were to give an answer to this question that ordinarily should be answered by our governor, I would say Osun PDP is definitely in disarray and Adeleke and his dynasty have known that they can’t win election in this platform, hence, they are looking for a party who have identified their fall after 2022 and galvanized themselves into strength ahead of future election. Adeleke want to use APC’s unity and oneness which the opposition(APC) built in the last three years against PDP and himself to secure his second term. THAT IS SO SMART!

Since Adeleke became the governor, PDP grew weak as the key stakeholders left the party for APC due to the way they handled the party, the highhandedness of his family in deciding Osun matters, who got the vote, who is governing Osun? Before anything can be made possible in Osun State, you have to go to Country home, Ede, that is where the oracle of Baal is, if you can’t bow, you will be cast inside the fire like the three Hebrew boys. PDP lost all the strategic people in the party within the space of three years even the political appointees of Adeleke just feign loyality to PDP meanwhile, they are not.

PDP lost ex-Deputy National Chairman of the party to APC, ex-Secretary to the State Government, Kazeem Adio, Ex-Chief of Staff Oyinlola, Peter Babalola and other strong allies of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

Also, Prince Dotun Babayemi, Kayode Oduoye, Oluwole Oke (House of Reps member) all left the party for APC because of the poor leadership of the PDP. This shows that the fall of PDP in Osun State contributed is the raise of APC, but the main factor(Adelekes) that led to the fall of PDP now wants to infect standing APC with same virus if they join. The Adagunodo’s people who are the original PDP members were marginalised and treated like an outcast since Adeleke got to PDP, these and more led to the fall of PDP. They turned landlord to tenant, that is power of money.

However, APC in the last three years have been mobilising, gathering momentum ahead of future elections. Majority of Aregbesola’s loyalists have returned to the progressive fold, strengthening the party. Why are APC members troubled by the defection plan of Adeleke? It is simple. They are afraid of the same lashes that Adeleke used on PDP that made it fail.

If Adeleke joined APC ahead of 2026 governorship election, the party will be reduced to nothing before 2027 General election. Selah
