The recent attack on residents and indigenes of Akinlalu in Ife North Local Government Area has left the community in deep shock and mourning.
Hon. Kayode Sowade, Executive Director of Engineering Services at the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.
In a statement, Sowade condemned the incident, describing it as both unfortunate and reprehensible.
“The news of the attack on the indigenes and residents of Akinlalu by operatives of the Osun Amotekun is deeply disturbing. It is a heinous crime against humanity and must be condemned by all well-meaning Nigerians,” he stated.
Sowade sympathized with the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu and the victims of the gruesome assault, which reportedly left several people injured, maimed, and others dead.
“I commiserate with the Alakinlalu of Akinlalu and all those affected by this unfortunate incident. It is indeed a tragic and unacceptable act,” he added.
The Modakeke-born politician commended the swift response of the Nigerian Police Force in arresting the perpetrators and sealing off the Amotekun offices linked to the attack. He noted that such prompt action reflects the security agencies’ commitment to ensuring justice and protecting lives and property.
“I must commend the proactive efforts of the police in swiftly apprehending those responsible and sealing the operational bases of Osun Amotekun in Osogbo and Ile-Ife. This decisive step offers hope to the victims and assurance to the community that justice will prevail,” Sowade remarked.
He further prayed for divine strength and comfort for the people of Akinlalu as they navigate this difficult period, urging them to remain calm and law-abiding.
“I appeal to the people of Akinlalu to remain peaceful and allow the authorities to handle the situation appropriately. I am confident that the police will conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that justice is served,” he concluded.
