The former General Manager of the Osun State Public Procurement Agency, Alhaji Bello Adegboyega Basheer (BABS), has declared during his interview with Redio Afinju that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is determined and well-positioned to reclaim power in Osun State in the 2026 governorship election.
Speaking during an appearance on the popular political radio programme Gbagede Ọrọ on Rédío Afínjú, BABS did not mince words as he described the current Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration in Osun as “incapable and non-performing.” He expressed strong confidence that the APC would unseat the PDP-led government, which he accused of failing in multiple critical sectors of governance.
BABS, who served under the immediate past governor of the state and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Gboyega Oyetola, criticised the current administration for its alleged failure to recruit teachers into public schools despite widespread shortages. He also lamented the State’s poor performance in internally generated revenue (IGR), the lack of impactful agricultural initiatives, and the inability to attract a single major investor to the State.
“The current administration has failed to uphold the laid-down procedures of the Public Procurement Agency, operating in a manner that undermines transparency and good governance,” he stated.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely intervention in the state’s finances, noting that Osun could have faced a near-collapse without federal support. “Asíwájú Tinubu’s financial intervention saved Osun. Without it, the state might be in a much worse condition today,” he added.
BABS urged the people of Osun to remain patient and resilient, assuring them that the APC would return to power in 2026 and restore what he termed as “the lost glory” of the State.
“We understand the hardship our people are going through. But I want to assure them that by 2026, the APC will return stronger, more united, and ready to deliver good governance once again,” he concluded.
