BABS Hosts APC Stewards Across IBO Federal Constituency for Iftar, Rallies Support for AMBO’s Governorship Bid and Reaffirms House of Reps Ambition
Hon. Bello Adegboyega Basheer (BABS), a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifelodun, Boripe, and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency of Osun State, hosted party stewards to an Iftar gathering at his residence, bringing together youth leaders, councillors, ward leaders, and members of the BABS Youth Movement from across the constituency.
The gathering also served as a strategic meeting to deliberate on the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, as well as BABS’ aspiration to represent the IBO Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Addressing the attendees, BABS reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the APC and assured party leaders and supporters of his commitment to abide by the collective decisions of the party.
He commended members for their resilience and dedication, urging massive grassroots mobilisation to secure victory for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), whom he described as competent and capable of repositioning Osun State.
On his National Assembly ambition, BABS stated that although his immediate focus remains the governorship election, he is fully in the race for the House of Representatives seat and confident that the party’s decision-making process will ultimately favour him.
He noted his over two decades of active involvement in the progressive movement, stressing that despite contesting the position several times without clinching the ticket, he has remained loyal and committed to the party’s success in every election.
Youth leaders from the three local governments, Hon. Dada Busayo (Ifelodun), Hon. Omoniyi Basheer (Boripe), and Hon. Segun Ọla (Odo-Otin) praised BABS’ consistency and loyalty, expressing optimism that the party would recognise his dedication, particularly as Odo-Otin has long been marginalised in producing the constituency’s House of Representatives candidate.
Alhaji Wahab Oyeniyi, former Special Adviser on Mining and Mineral Resources to ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, called for unity among stakeholders and urged members, especially from Odo-Otin, to rally behind BABS. He emphasised the need for immediate mobilisation while prioritising victory in the governorship election and criticised the current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as underperforming.
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Adepoju Wasiu, the Renewed Hope Ambassador for Odo-Otin Local Government, urged unity and inclusiveness, describing BABS as a grassroots politician with enduring relevance. Hon. Oduoye and other speakers echoed calls for intensified mobilisation and equity for Odo-Otin, insisting that BABS possesses the sincerity, experience, and capacity to deliver effective representation if elected.
Party stewards present included the leader of the house in Odo-Otin local government, Hon. Tajudeen Gentle, Hon. Akeem Seriki, Elder Adeniyi Yaya, Hon. Mudasiru Lamidi, Hon. Shittu Afolabi Moshood, Hon. Kareem Saheed, Hon. Akinloye Aliu, alongside councillors, ward leaders, and other party faithful.
